The Blue Stones

The Blue Stones

The deep indigo of sodalite and lapis lazuli make them some of my favorite stones. While the light blue color of blue lace agate introduces a calming influence in situations where cool, peaceful energy is required, the deep blue of kyanite stimulates the latent abilities of subtle perception and intuitive skills.

Sodalite

Sodalite increases spiritual awareness, bringing information from the higher mind down to the physical level, deepening meditation and creating harmony between the conscious and subconscious. This blue/indigo stone encourages objectivity and new perspectives, promoting wisdom, logic, and creativity.

Sodalite acts as a shock absorber, clearing electromagnetic pollution and combating the negative effects of radioactive materials and treatments such as x-ray, radiation, and chemotherapy.  Use Sodalite for emotional balance and to calm panic attacks. This stone enhances self-esteem, self-acceptance, and self-trust. Fostering a balanced outlook, sodalite is excellent for group work.

Among the healing properties of sodalite are the abilities to balance metabolism, aid the digestive system, and fight insomnia, calcium deficiency and head colds.

Sodalite’s mineral composition is sodium aluminium silicate. The stone comes in all shades of blue with veins of white calcite, and can easily be confused with lapis lazuli.

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli aids manifestations and spiritual awakening by increasing the psychic senses as well as mental clarity, thus fine tuning feelings and instincts. This stone enhances dream work plus the development of psychic ability. Use lapis for truth, friendship, the fostering of harmony in relationships. This stone also relieves stress, protects against depression and sadness, aids mourning and grief, and encourages self expression, artistic endeavors, and expansiveness.

Hold onto lapis lazuli to alleviate pain, especially that of migraine headaches. Lapis will also reduce insomnia and boost the immune system.

Historically, Lapis Lazuli was an important magical stone in ancient Babylonia, Assyria, and Egypt. The ancient Egyptians wore amulets to protect the wearer from harm.

The name Lapis Lazuli comes from the Latin word lapis, meaning “stone”, and the Arabic word azul, meaning blue. This stone is also known by the name of its primary mineral, lazurite (sodium calcium aluminium silicate), which forms only where limestone comes into contact with calcite and pyrites. This rare gemstone is a deep indigo blue with flecks of gold or white from pyrite or calcite inclusions. Sodalite can often be found as one of the minerals making up lapis, which helps account for the confusion between them.

Blue Lace Agate

Blue Lace agate is a wonderful healing stone with a soft, gentle energy that is calming and cooling, bringing peace of mind. Blue stones encourage the flow of energy in the body. They have a natural affinity with the throat chakra, our means of communication and expression. Blue lace agate links thought to the spiritual vibration and brings in deep peace.

Not surprisingly, blue lace agate is a powerful throat healer. It also releases shoulder and neck problems as well as thyroid deficiencies.

Blue lace agate is one of the most striking varieties of quartz. The stone is pale blue with white or darker lines. The rich blue bands are created by larger quartz crystals inter-growing through chalcedony.

Blue Kyanite

Kyanite forms fan-like clusters or blades of thin crystal that are ideal for restoring energy balance. Kyanite is an effective energy conduit that can balance most systems in the subtle anatomy, as well as quickly create great stillness and tranquility, making it ideal for meditation. This stone is tranquilizing and a powerful transmitter and amplifier of high frequency energies.

Use blue kyanite to strengthen the voice and heal the throat and larynx. This stone is useful for performers and public speakers.

Kyanite is a blue variety of the mineral disthene, which forms thin blade-like crystals. Handle it with care.
